Module Description
Every one of you out there eats and you’ll probably eat something in the next few hours. You may even be eating something as you read this. The Eat to Live module explores how and what we eat, and is a guide for how you should eat.
Nutrition is at the center of this module. You’ll see and learn nutritional terms like vitamin, mineral, and macronutrient, and understand how nutritional literacy can help improve the quality of your life
Food is categorized in a number of different ways like whole foods vs. processed foods and organic food vs. genetically-modified foods. You’ll be introduced to a new definition of superfoods.
A concept and tool that will be brand-new to you is the Follow For Now Food Continuum. It’s kind of similar to school work in that every food is given a grade. Potato chips receive a low grade while most fruits and vegetables get an “A” grade. Just like with grades most of us don’t always get (and eat) only A’s.
This module has 10 sections with quizzes at the end of each section. At the end of the module there is a list of additional food and nutritional literacy resources I like, a module checklist, and things conclude with a 30-question module exam
This Module Will Include:
► Learning text that is divided up into small bites of material with each section focused on a single topic. Sections also include a suggested list of other sources if you’d like to do further study and find out more about that topic.
►A quiz at the end of each section, to assess your understanding of the key points in that section, that must be completed with a perfect score of 100%. (You have a maximum of 7 attempts. Your attempts are tracked and counted.)
►An exam at the end of the module, which you will take just one time, to give an overall assessment of how well you understand the key points of the module. (Many of the same questions from the quizzes will show up here.)
